How can I find my NCESID?

The NCESID is a unique identifier used by the National Center for Education Statistics for each school in the nation.

The quickest way to find the NCESID for your school is to go to the locator page on the NCES website  (http://nces.ed.gov/globallocator/ )and search for the school.

If the school has only recently been reported to NCES then the school may appear in the new school list for Arizona, which is located at http://nces.ed.gov/ccd/commonfiles/stateresults.asp?state=04

If the school is still not available, you will need to contact the Arizona Non-Fiscal CCD Coordinator who may be able to logon to the Education Unit Profile in the U.S. Education Data Exchange Network Submission System and locate your school. When making a request please include the CTDS number of the school in case there is a difference in spelling or wording that makes the school difficult to find.

In many cases a new school will simply not have an NCESID assigned to it because a data submission to the national schools database has not yet occured.  Usually a school's first appearance in the NCES database will occur after a school has been in operation and submitting Student Detail data for at least one complete fiscal year.

NCESIDs are commonly requested as part of an application for some federal programs.  Most federal program offices are aware of the fact that new schools may not have NCESIDs and therefore do not require this information from new schools.  You may want to directly contact the federal program office to explain your situation.
